Season of the Mask

Today, one of my coworkers was wearing a white mask.
a. I am a surgeon.
b. I am a bank robber.
c. It is cold and flu season in Japan.

The answer is C. It's one of those quirky Japanese things. We're talking those little white paper surgical mask deals. They are quite common during the winter months. You see em at work, the supermarket, subways... well, anywhere there are people. I think it says a lot for the level of consiration for others in japanese culture, which is so high as well says something about their very serious work ethic. Everyone carries their load and the common cold sure as hell isnt gonna get in the way. From what I have observed, sick days arent taken too often around here... but whoever makes those little masks sure is making a killing. .. but they probably don't catch many colds.
